As the general secretary, Federation of Evangelical and Indigenous Christian Churches of Kenya(FEICCK),the presiding bishop of Glory Outreach Assembly Goa Kenya and a global executive member of International Leadership Institute, (ILI) I congratulate the Kenya Rollball Teams for both men and ladies for fighting against all odds in the just concluded world champions in India to bring 1st a position for both men and ladies trophies to Kenya. In the past years I have personally camped in vain at the Kenya ministry of Sports headquarters in Nairobi pleading with the government to sponsor these national teams for both continental and global championships. I never new how frustrating it can be for a church to make effort to co work with Government in promoting the welfare of its own children/youth until the month of May 2015 when I watched Kenya Rollball Teams leave the Ministry of Sports boardroom hopeless without a single shilling a day before the African Championships began in Kigali ,Rwanda . I quickly consulted with our church board and we quickly wrote the team a cheque that enabled them to go to Kigali where they worn first position for both men and women in Africa. Years down the line now in 2023 the government has sponsored the team though the last day before the competitions started in India. Recognizing the role of the church in you & Sports the team brought the trophies to church for thanksgiving before the Kenya Government ministry of Sports can arrange for the team to present their victory to his Excellency President William Ruto at State House. “Everything rises or falls with leadership”(John Maxwell). What is my motivation in Sports? 70% plus of Kenya population are youth. Sports Evangelism is GOA’s creative strategy for engaging youth. Realizing the unlocked potential of our youth, I’m saddened by the flopping of the bi-partisan talks led by representatives of the Kenya Kwanza Government and the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.. Kenya youth would be more useful .empowered in a sustainable way than being used to protest in the streets.
