My First week in the States, Bishop David Thagana

Time flies when you are in the right company pursuing your God given purpose. Can you imagine I’m one week old in the States? This entire first week has been spent in Atlanta and more specifically Smyrna GA. God has been gracious to me. For this first week I have been hosted by Gabe and Christy Ross, and the Overstreets family. My last sermon before I left Kenya was on “A generous Heart” learning from a man called Gaius in the small one chapter of 3 John. This is exactly what I have experienced with my two host families for this first week. May God bless them.
My first Sunday in this trip, I preached in Refuge Community Church. The church was very generous to me in many ways. Many of the members told me they heard God speak to them especially reaching out to the lost in their community through relevant and sensitive methods to their culture. 7 children got sponsored, I got a 2,000 USD Cheque for GOA ministry and 400 USD Cheque for my personal needs. Thanks to Pastor William K. Gravely and Eddie Fielder for their hospitality.

My focus this week has been to have 324 GOA sponsorships at 39 USD each. So far I have had 15 Child Sponsorships. So I am only 309 to go to realize my goal. You can help me realize this goal by simply going to the website and sponsoring a child. It takes 3 child sponsorships of 39 USD each to take Care of all the needs of a child in a GOA orphanage. While some are blessed to meet only one basic need, education, or medical at 39 USD another person is blessed to give one child all the 3 sponsorships. To him or her whose much is given much is required. Again thank you.
Eddie Fielder and Paula Roper have sacrificed so much to coordinate my schedule for this first week. May God bless them abundantly. We have started a conversations of a strategic partnership with Fuller Seminary. We have also expressed interest through Pastor Edwin to have GOA re considered back to the old Mt. Bethel/GOA partnership that existed and accomplished so much in the area of church planting and discipleship in Kenya and East Africa.

I will close my first week by preaching in Smyrna Christian Church this Sunday.
From Monday, October 17th I will be in Tampa Florida. Then will be back to Georgia for some more strategic partnership meetings as I preach in Cumberland Community Church.
